RE: New Track Launch and COVID-19 Measures

05 May 2020

With the decision to ease some of the COVID-19 restrictions thanks to the effective practice of social distancing within the Northern Territory, we are going to start the process of reopening our new track with a limited capacity. We are very proud of our new track that was completed over the Easter break and now meets the UCI Official guidelines, and we can’t wait to ride with you This will include implementing the following guidelines:

  • Zero contact between riders, families, friends, and committee members on and off the track.

  • Installation of hand sanitizer at every entry, with each person who enters and leaves the track expected to sanitise their hands.

  • Club equipment also cannot be borrowed or used during these times - including chairs, bikes, helmets etc. to reduce the need for additional cleaning and contamination.

  • All riders, committee members and bystanders must maintain the recommended 1.5 metre distance away from others.

  • If you feel sick, unwell or have a fever, please do not attend the track and visit your doctor.

  • The canteen will also be closed over these open track sessions.

The track will be open on a limited number of days and times, with only 8 riders with one parent/friend per rider per session to comply with social distancing measures. You will need to prebook the times, as committee members will also be required at the track.

The track will be available for bookings within the following timeframes, and can be booked in via the booking link:

We cannot wait to open the track back up to the public and hold race nights and training again and have all of our enthusiastic riders back on our brand new track again, but this will be the new normal until social distancing measures have been relaxed.

FAQ’S

What if I book into a session but can’t make it?

Our booking system, Calendly, allows you to cancel or reschedule your booking yourself! Just click on the event in your calendar, and there will be a link you can click on to cancel your booking or reschedule it.

Why do I need to book in? Can’t I just show up to the track?

We need to continue to practice effective social distancing to be able to hold any open track practice at all and to ensure the restrictions don’t just go back up again in a short period of time due to a lack of compliance. If you don’t book in and show up on the day, all of the slots may have already been taken, so we’ll have to send you home to come back another day.

When will it go back to normal?

That is a question that unfortunately only the relevant governing bodies can answer. We are eager to get back to our regular race nights and training, but we will need to wait out the COVID-19 storm and follow protocol until then.

How many riders and parents can come to the track? Can I bring extra people (friends, family, etc.)?

We are only permitting eight (8) riders per session plus one (1) parent/family member per rider. This is to ensure we can practice adequate social distancing and give everyone enough space to spread out.

What if I feel unwell?

If you have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19, you need to see a doctor immediately. Before your appointment, call ahead and tell the staff what your symptoms are and tell them your travel history or that you may have been in contact with a potential case of coronavirus.
